Eliza Haden b1844 - 2nd wife of John Whorton

Daughter of Thomas Haden & Catherine (Boulton). Eliza worked for Samuel & Ann Smith in their shop in Cradley High Street, where she met her future husband John Worton who was a Widower living next door.
Eliza would also have known John from Chapel. I would think being a very kind young lady she would have helped look after John's two children Matilda and Joshua, perhaps this is how her relationship with John grew. My Nan always referred to Eliza as Granny Worton, although she was her Step Granny...Cont:
I get the impression that everyone loved Eliza. Witnesses to John and Eliza's Wedding were Thomas and Martha Haden, her brother and sister. In 1901 Eliza was a Widow living with her two youngest daughters in Morgans Building Cradley Worcs. Uncle Ralph Twigg told me how she was always first in Chapel, dusting the pews and wearing long black crinoline, which crackled as she moved, not forgetting her Black Hat. Eliza lived to be about 76 years old and died in Talbot Street Cradley, with her Step Daughter Matilda Harbach nee Worton and Matilda's family.
NB: Hewell Hall Tarrdebigge is now a Prison!! Such a shame, it must have been beautiful in Catherine's day!
