I used to cycle to this pool to fish all the way from Whiteheath in the early 1960s, mostly uphill, up Bromford Lane, with a creel (fishing basket) on my back. Unbelievable. As my Dad would say, "It's a mercy of God you weren't killed"! There were some good fish in both this smaller higher pool and the lower boating pool. There was even an annual angling contest organized during the summer holidays. There's no trace left now of either the boats or the boathouse.
