George Edward Walton

Hoping someone here with a military or more specifically Navy background can decipher this record? George Edward Walton was born in 1924, married in 1943. Served in the 2WW. Family story was his ship was torpedoed, he survived went on to have two children. But I’ve not been able to find any of his Navy records. I received his marriage certificate recently and he gives his occupation as a Stoker RN. But the rest I can’t make out, his service number starts off OK but gets blurred to the end and the three words in the brackets I can’t make out at all. Anyone help?

You are rapidly becoming my favourite person on this forum, You stare at something for so long and don’t see it! I was convinced it had to be something to do with his Navy service, but yes totally agree. And his number too. Thank-you again

It was wartime, but being an ex-engineer myself I'm liking that his Bride is an "Engineers Fitter" even more so 4 years earlier on the 1939 Register she is is as a Stripper!! No wonder Navy man George was attracted. When you look at the original entry before transcription, unlike all the other occupations on the page STRIPPER is written in block capitals and then in smaller writing next to it, Heavy work!.....a different sort of stripper then?

I’d not seen your reply to my Isaac Cheetham topic, thanks for the prompt. It’s getting late but I’ll have a better look in the morning. Our Issac died in 1895. So this one you refer to was a possible father. Especially with that Dover connection. Thanks again
