You can probably access Ancestry, one of the genealogy sites, for free at your local library. They hold all sorts of info, including the England census from 1841.
Currently investigating the Hillmans of Sussex.

So as you are posting in beginners what do you have already?

Do you know how to find a birth certif index?

Do you have your fathers birth certif?....do you know how to find it on the indexes?

Maybe start with seeing if you can find your fathers on here

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

and on here

http://www.westmidlandsbmd.org.uk/

when you do find the info you can then apply to the local registry office or to the GRO for a birth certif
not full coverage on above sites only what has been transcribed by volunteers but very good sites to help you
useful to learn how to use them

When you have the Birth info you can then find a marriage
on this site
http://www.westmidlandsbmd.org.uk/cgi/m ... ds#surname

it will (if transcribed) show you the marriage info and church so you can if a church marriage look it up at the relevant archives.
