ARC TBC Thomas Bills

Postby nessa » Tue Nov 17, 2015 5:54 pm

I am struggling to find the marriage for Thomas Bills 1794-1872 parents Francis Bills and Mary Dimmock, possible marriage to Hannah Pearman born Bilston 1810.
In 1841 Thomas is living in Cradley
Thomas 40 chainmaker
Hannah 33
Benj. 15
Thomas 10
Daniel 10
Stephen 5
Mary 3
Ann 3
John 1
All but the last 3 children were not born in the country.
1851 and 1861 they continue to live in Cradley.
Their first two children appear to have been born in Liverpool, also Mary and Ann

Name: Benjamin Bills
Baptism Date: 19 Feb 1826
Parish: Toxteth, St James
Father's name: Thomas Bills
Mother's name: Ann Bills
Reference Number: 283 JAM/2/1

So marriage before that, and to either Ann or Hannah. Is that it?

I can't find a marriage either :(

The date and names seem to fit, so could Thomas have married in Liverpool not in Cradley?

It is possible. But then you would have to get them both there, prior to the marriage. Somewhere Worc/Staffs/Shrop/Warwick would be easier but I can't find anything anywhere!

Am I right in thinking birth certificates weren't issued until 1837, if that is the case I will send for John Bills born about 1840 in Cradley, would that be Staffordshire or Worcestershire, would Dudley be the best place to try?

Have checked and there are possibly 5 John Bills within the timeframe too many to send for, so will have to think of something else.

They seem to have moved around quite a lot Liverpool, Devon, Cradley. Would be worth trying. Thank you.

Elizabeth's birth cert just arrived

16 February 1845 Brickyard Cradley Elizabeth Girl father Thomas Bills mother Hannah Bills formerly Wild fathers trade chainmaker Mark of mother Brick yard Cradley Reg. 20 February 1845 Halesowen Worcestershire.

There is a Hannah Wild bapt St Leonard Bilston 16 December 1810 parents John and Hannah Wild.

At least I know her maiden name wasn't Pearman. Still looking for a marriage for Thomas and Hannah.
