Capt/Gen. Alexander Anderson

Postby yodakitty » Thu Nov 12, 2009 7:25 pm

Capt. Alexander Anderson, Royal Marine, d.1814 on Lake Champlain and buried in the U.S. I've found his will @ natn'd archives: filed @ Chatham by his executor, David Ballingall.
Shows he was widowed with a son, Alexander. I'm looking for information on Capt. Anderson, his service info, and wife.

Gen. Alexander Anderson, Royal Marine, d. 1877. buried @ Brompton Cem. in London. I'm seeking bio. information for him and his service info. Is he the son of Capt. Alexander Anderson?

thanks

Hi Yodakitty,

I'm sure you have all the information from the web but I've given this link because it has a photo of Gen. Alexander Anderson grave.

General Alexander Anderson CB (7 May 1807 – 21 November 1877) was a British army general. He served in the Royal Marine Light Infantry and became a Companion of the Order of the Bath. Anderson is buried in Brompton Cemetery, London. His memorial is an unusual composition of cannon-balls, one of which has disappeared

I'll have a search around for you and I'm sure others will be able to help.

Kind regards

Hi,

It might be an idea to contact the Royal Marines museum because I've just checked the website and they must have information on General Anderson.

Hi,

It mabe an idea to check the Times newspaper for any obituaries of General Anderson because I'm sure because of his standing within society there must have been something mentioned which may help.
