Yes, it was the Elizabethan Club, Rob. There's another building at the top of Throne Road which copied the style of Portway Hall, even down to the coat of arms, I saw it today, it's painted cream. I took a picture of the farmhouse higher up the hill, once half timbered, now clad in brick, 16c I believe. My dad had some dealings with the farmer, bought eggs perhaps, or horse manure for the garden.

We certainly are I love them!
They have a sort of lowry feel to them.

There is also in the Social HIstory section a pdf book that depicts the childhood of Richard P Mayer in the Black Country area.
We are very grateful to his son for allowing us to display them on here and on Black Country Connections
