Elizabeth Taylor 1815

Postby Frodo » Tue Apr 18, 2023 7:57 pm

I am trying to find more information about Elizabeth, shee is listed as a possible daughter of Joseph (1783-1842) and Ann. She does not appear in the Family Bible nor is she mentioned in any paperwork and definitely not in Joseph's Will. I have found a baptism record showing Joseph and Ann lived at Woodgate when Elizabeth was baptized on 15th January 1815. When Sarah Jemima was baptized in 1812 the family lived at Ham Green and when Eleanor was baptized in 1813 the address was written as near Woodgate. When Philemon was christened in 1819 the address was Woodgate. Is it possible that Elizabeth was christened stillborn otherwise I wonder whether there were two Joseph and Anns living at Woodgate. I cannot find any marriage or death records for Elizabeth.

Have you checked this one from Family Search?

Name Elizabeth Taylor
Sex Female
Event Type Burial
Event Date 15 Feb 1819
Event Place Severn Stoke, Worcestershire, England, United Kingdom
Event Place (Original) Hanbury, Severn-Stoke, Worcester, England

Severn Stoke is a bit far away, but Hanbury is quite close

I haven't seen the information you have found. I have done a search but was looking for Stoke Prior, Woodgate or possibly Ham Green as they are the three places that appear on the baptism records for the rest of Joseph and Ann's children.
The Elizabeth at Kempsey is age 0 in 1819 so presumably not the correct one as the baptism is 1815.
Ann Taylor (nee Smith) was born in Hanbury so that is feasible but if Elizabeth was 4 when she died I don't understand why she isn't recorded in the Family Bible - the first entry is Joseph himself followed by Philemon with Jemima, Eleanor, Eliza, Betsey and Nathan all appearing on different pages but no Elizabeth.

Browsing on Ancestry I have just seen an Elizabeth Taylor also baptized on 15th October 1815 in Stoke Prior with parents Thomas and Ann FHL film number 415112,113,114. I don't know how many books of baptisms there are for the Parish of Stoke Prior but the only two entries for January 15th are for Elizabeth born to Joseph and Ann and a Sarah daughter of Sarah Carn in the Worcestershire, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1812-1918.
