I am french
I research my ancestor Jacob AMIRA
he came from London to Cavaillon, in the south of France, near 1740
he was sofer scribe
I think there are some informations in records and archives from Spanish and Portuguese Jews' Congregation, 2
Ashworth Road, London W9 1JY

The next known secular record of the name is of
the broker, Isaac Shaltiel who is mentioned in an
18TH century document published by the Jewish
Theological Seminary in New York. The document
is an agreement between the broker Abraham Abu
Rabon, who represents his partners in the brokerage
firm of Luca, and between the brokers Isaac Shaltiel,
Jacob Amira and Moses Ibn Azu, who represent
the other party in the matter, that is the firm of
the English merchant Thomas & Son.

For Bevis markt in London, there are published records, but they are not in any library in France...
May be somebody can look after these books ?
Is there any forum specially for jewish research in London ?
