Studying Genealogy

Postby theanimallover » Thu Apr 24, 2014 9:49 pm

Hi everyone from a newcomer!

I wonder if anyone could give any feedback'/advise on studying for a diploma on Genealogy. I would be starting at the beginning as I have no experience except of internet research.

I work full-time from home, so a distance learning course would be great.

Thanks in advance,
Karen

Thanks for your reply.

I did search online. I found that there are many Diploma courses but the price range varies a lot and wondered why?
E.g Oxford Learning College offer a Diploma in Genealogy for £330 distance learning and Strathclyde Uni offer a Diploma course: Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies - distance learning for £2,750. That is a huge difference in price.

After looking for reviews, I wouldn't go with Oxford, but wondered if anyone else had gained a Diploma and which college they used.

Thanks,
Karen

Are you doing it just because you find it interesting? Or do you hope to market your skills later?
